LEGO fun at AAA
Children ages 5 and older can participate in a fun interactive LEGO board game when accompanied by an adult. Between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., kids can “drive” a LEGO car around a map of the United States made up entirely of LEGO bricks, making stops along the way. Those who complete the game will take home a free LEGO car and a free U.S. road map. You’ll find professionally created LEGO vehicle models on display, and don’t forget to enter for a chance to win a four-pack of admission tickets to LEGOLAND® California, in Carlsbad.
Play the AAA LEGO map game from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at these AAA offices:
July 8 Bremerton
July 9 Federal Way
July 10 Lynnwood
Are your chores done?
h, summertime! Most of us look forward to the summer as a time to relax and forget about everyday duties. However, this is a great time to complete chores around the house that have been piling up. You’ll feel even better once they are finished, and you just might avoid unnecessary accidents and prevent incurring homeowner losses.
Here are a few loss-prevention tips to help you and your family have a long, safe and enjoyable summer, even after the leaves start to change color.
- Follow the instructions in the owner’s manual for your lawn care equipment; make sure the equipment is maintained and guards are installed properly. Do not allow small children on your riding lawn mower or other motorized equipment while in operation.
- Do not operate gas grills too close to buildings. Allow grills to thoroughly cool before storing.
- Shut off all water sources in your home if you are going to be away for an extended period of time.
- Inspect all recreational equipment such as swing sets. Review outdoor safety tips with your children.
- Check exterior siding, windows and screens for damage.
- Review your homeowners policy. Is the coverage adequate? If you have completed any renovations such as adding on a sun porch or deck, be sure to contact your insurance agency. Is your liability limit enough to protect your family and your assets?

Summer construction season is officially under way
Multiple construction projects, involving the closure of multiple roads and bridges, are either going on right now or are planned to commence in the very near future. One notable project will affect daily commuters using the I-90 bridge across Lake Washington from July 5 to 28, when construction crews will close all westbound mainline lanes to replace cracked steel bridge joints. Drivers are encouraged to get ready now by reviewing WSDOT’s transportation options to determine the best “get-around” route. Before you head out, check WSDOT’s Web site (www.wsdot.wa.gov), blog and project information line (877-595-4222).
